Tuesday, January 27, 2009
The Windsor 10A1 team played in the final of the MSJ Atom tournament in St. Jean against the host MSJ Wild. Head Coach Scott Brand provided a game summary for us:
The crowd was cheering as the puck dropped to start the game. Our Warriors opened the scoring at the 52 second mark of the 1st on a goal by Austin Frieson to set the early tone. Both teams exchanged chances with Stijn Demare making some great saves. Josh Porter scored with 56 seconds remaining in the 1st to open up a 2 goal lead heading into the 2nd period. The second period ended with each goaltender holding the opposition off the scoreboard. Our Warriors remained confident and continued the pressure and Riley Boyd scored with 4:14 remaining to open the lead to 3 goals. The minutes and seconds ticket away, our bench erupted as the boys celebrated winning the Tournament. Stijn earning the shoot out. What a team effort!
